Most years, I usually make pretty specific goals, like run X amount of miles, or read X number of books, etc., but, this year? I just want to be the better version of myself. I want to get things DONE this year! I want all the good things for myself, my friends, and my husband. So instead of making super specific goals, I just decided to make a small (loose) list of a few things I want to work on.
Paying off our debt is a huge one (and maybe wouldn't consider this a loose one...whoops!). As of Monday, there is a check in the mail to pay off our FIRST loan in full, and I can't tell you how AMAZING it feels! I mean, we're already on our way to pay off loan #2. It's so, SO exciting.
Capturing beauty. Essentially, my camera and I are going to get some quality time together, so I want to spend it doing some pretty amazing things. I want to capture more emotion, more love, not "poses" or something to replicate from Pinterest. I want to get to know my couples more, what makes them smile, what makes them tear up, what makes them laugh insanely loud. I can't wait to see the couples we meet in the next year, and also see more of the couples we already have in the books.
Inspire others. I want to write more from my heart, and less for what seems "blog appropriate". The harsh reality is that most of the time the apartment is a mess, some nights I break down and cry for no reason, and there's always laundry to be done...and sometimes, that's okay! If I can handle sticky situations in life with grace and acceptance, I hope that inspires others to be optimistic.
Love harder. I think that sometimes giving up the little amount of me time that I might get this year, is crucial. My husband should be my priority, and dating him is something I don't want to miss out on. I want to show him, and everyone else that's important to me, just HOW important they are to me! I want to send more letters, make more phone calls, and just love my people harder.
|throwback to our college days when we fell in love pretty hard.|
Read more (and write more). In wanting to do this, I've started a whole-year Bible plan that I'm excited to continue diving into. Other than my Bible, I'd like to read more in general. I love fiction romance, mystery, thrillers, etc...so I want to make more time for those type of books, oh, and more bubble baths. When I say "write more" I don't mean here on the blog...I have the prettiest yellow leather journal, the same one I wrote my wedding vows in, and I have been neglecting it lately. I want to write more personal stuff in there, my prayers, my worries, etc. That will be so amazing to look back on when I'm about 80 years old.
Trust God. This is my biggest one. I'm excited to dive deeper into my faith, pray more, and even take a few chances in the coming year. I don't always know where life is going to take me, or why things happen the way they do...but I've got a God who works behind the scenes and I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us.
What's your #1 goal for this year??
Love these goals of yours---also super proud of you already finishing one loan and it's January 7! Only 7 freaking days in. I'm doing my Go Magness' cheer right now ;)ReplyDelete
Woo hoo!! Doesn't it feel GREAT to write out your goals?! Your goals are great and I know you will rock them!! Matthew and I sat down the other night and made out our goals for 2015 and it's so exciting. Good luck!!ReplyDelete
These goals are wonderful! I think 2015, for many people, will be the year of quality things like reading, being in the Word, capturing moments, etc. I can't wait to see all these goals happen!ReplyDelete
You can capture MY beauty anytime you want ;) Haha- jokinggggg! You guys will rock out this year, in all ways! So excited for you about getting that first loan knocked out!!!!ReplyDelete
Love these!!!! Capture Beauty is on my list too.....but it mainly applies to "capture OUR beauty". I feel like I'm always capturing the beauty of others...for others....and when it comes to me, I just use a little ole iphone camera. I need to work more on capturing my OWN moments. :)ReplyDelete
That picture of you two is so great!ReplyDelete
Your list is beautiful and I'm super excited to see what experiences come out of those things you've written down. Your heart is open, I can see that...and so amazing things are going to happen!!! So good!ReplyDelete
I seriously love everything about this. Especially the "Love Harder" goal. Our relationships with the ones we love are some of the most important parts of life, but its so easy to be busy doing other things. I think loving others more could only be a positive thing. aaanyways -ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing your goals! It looks like 2015 is gonna be pretty amazing for you.
Kayla these are excellent goals! That last one is the best :)ReplyDelete
you are darling. and i love these goals. can you just share everything about your life always? love you! xoxoReplyDelete
Yay! Congrats on paying off your first loan. That must be such a weight off your shoulders.ReplyDelete
These are great! I want to borrow them all! :)ReplyDelete
Those are amazing goals!!! Especially the Love Harder Goal, we all should do that more. :) Congrats on getting that first loan paid off!! I know that is the best feeling. Keep it up love! :)ReplyDelete
I love these! And way to go on getting that first loan paid off!!ReplyDelete
Good luck with the goals, you'll achieve many of them! :)ReplyDelete
My goals for this year are like this too! Sometimes it seems too intimidating to put a number on things so I like just putting energy into doing things throughout the whole year! I love the love harder! :)ReplyDelete
Yesss I love these. Trust God is what I need to tattoo on my forehead this year, since we're going to have to so many changes. That and learn how to keep a baby alive :)ReplyDelete
Reading and writing more are always goals of mine, too. Two of my favorite things!
You have such a strong love of life that I think anything and everything you set your mind to you can and will accomplish. Happy 2015!ReplyDelete
Your photography goal is spot on my friend. I need to stick in my brain that "comparison is the thief of joy". Pinterest makes that such a hard concept to grasp in terms of what people want and expect from me. It really pushed me to the edge of not knowing if I was doing the right thing with my photography. I started the Jesus Calling book all over again this year and I am excited to dive into it. You are going to do amazing things this year! I am so excited I get to follow along and cheer you on along the way.ReplyDelete
These are some great goals for 2015! And congrats on paying off debt! We paid off a small loan in December and it felt so amazing. I'm trying to follow the Dave Ramsey debt snowball plan and so far it feels pretty good. Hoping my car isn't far behind on the list of things getting paid off!ReplyDelete
These are perfect goals for the new year. I think if everyone loved a little harder, the world would be a much better place. :) One of my resolutions last year was to read more and I must say - it made my year so much better!ReplyDelete
I love all these goals and I think you are going to rock them this year and beyond! I'm already inspired by you and I can't wit to see what the year brings!!ReplyDelete
Awesome goals! I love your handwriting too :)ReplyDelete
