When exercise gets put on the back burner.

Man, its been easy to be lazy lately. I've kind of had this whole "you work hard Kayla, you deserve to relax tonight" mentality.... but who am I kidding? The love handles have started talking, and right now they are telling my relaxed personality to shut up, lace up, and hit the pavement...oh, and to stop eating so many moon pies.

September was an insane month, and we finally got a free weekend last weekend. So you bet we took advantage of it. But I kind of forgot how much I LOVE working out. Caleb and I were on a great gym schedule for about 5 weeks before I got sick, and then he hurt his toe...so now that we're both better? It's time to GET GOIN!!

I know that TOMORROW starts the gorgeous month of October, but since Tracy's link up is today? I'm listing my workout goal right now!

Running
I typically do some kind of mileage goal, but I think instead I'm going to stick with my old goal of hitting the pavement 4 times a week. I think this is doable. If I HAD to put a number on it, I'd say I'd like to hit somewhere between 30-40 miles total.

Time
When I run outside alone (without Caleb), I have a hard time pacing myself. I tend to do about 10 minute miles. When I'm on a treadmill? I set it for a little over an 11 minute mile. However, I really want to work on getting a little faster and get a 9:30 minute mile.

Weights
I'm really excited to get back to weights again. I was making some serious improvements and finally seeing a new muscle in my arm...and I really hope I can get back in the groove. Being able to do one more set of something makes my heart SO happy.

  2. I need to get back to the gym, too. I started feeling so lousy, so I took a longer-than-anticipated break. I know it'll feel like starting over again when I go back, so I'm dreading it. But something about this fall weather makes me want to be more active!

  3. Great goals girl! I have been a bit lazy lately as well, but I wasn't sick or with a hurt toe... just lazy, lol! I need to get back into weights as well, they really do make such a difference and I love feeling strong :)

  4. Get it girl!!!!! I haven't worked out this entire year.....like seriously...its been like 200 days since I last worked out for more than just a brisk walk. I need to stop making excuses and hit the pavement too! Wish you were my neighbor so you could knock on my door and motivate me every day after work! :)

  5. I love these goals! Sometimes it's hard to set a running mileage goal — you can't predict weather, etc. But 4 days/week is a great goal, and so are the rest. Good luck! And thanks for linking up! :)

  8. I'm exciting to see what kind of miles you hit in October. My goal is 35 miles total, which is totally doable as long as I get out and move.

  9. Yay for getting back in the game! What is it about running outside that makes it so that our time is faster? That happens to me too!

  11. Perfect goals for October! My goal is to stick to my training schedule and get back at the weights. I've totally stopped my weight workouts since I started half marathon training. It's sad because I think I've actually gained weight, lol

  12. It takes so much dedication to get in those four workouts each week! It was so easy when I was working part-time, but figuring out 40 hour work weeks AND work outs, I'm not doing so hot. At least I stay away from moon pies ;)

  13. Yeah girl!!! I *almost* made a mileage goal this month but I didn't want the pressure. Honestly, the more miles you run, the more you'll see your pace drop. Can't wait to see how it's going next month. Thanks for linking up! :)

  14. Good for you! I've been majorly slacking about going to the gym and just recently paid it another visit. Time to get back into it!

  17. Awesome goals! I too am planning on hitting the pavement again this month. It's been far too long since my last run. And I definitely agree that it's been way too easy to be lazy lately.
