Spinning...literally. Caleb had the bright idea Friday night to ask another couple from church (who also attends our gym) if they were planning on taking a Saturday morning class or not. When they said 7:30 AM spin class, I was scared, ha! So went to bed at a decent hour Friday (after a fun date night in) and woke up before the sun the next day and met them there bright and early. This class was no joke! After 65+ minutes and 25 miles, I was surprised my legs were still intact! But it was fun to have my workout finished before we'd normally be awake on a Saturday!
After the class, we had a nice healthy breakfast at home and discovered that our heat was out. It was blowing out freezing cold air. Someone from the maintenance team came over pretty quickly and determined out entire system needed replaced (one perk of renting; we don't have to pay for it), but brought us a tiny space heater to hold us over. She even replaced our thermostat to a digital one, and replaced the old gritty dial one we had from the 80's. We have no idea when it will get fixed but we're praying that it's soon!
We enjoyed the rest of our day lounging, playing games, editing, and then we made dinner. We used spaghetti squash both Friday and Saturday in our recipes and it was pretty tasty!!
Sunday was a normal mix of both low key plans and relaxation. It's weird not having my Bengals on TV to watch anymore. I miss it!
I have to say, being at home makes me really happy. I've really never been that kind of girl who goes out on the town very often, and I'm finally realizing that I like it that way. Sure, here and there is fun! But mostly, being at home with Caleb is my happy place (preferably with some popcorn in hand and a good movie)!
What did you get into this weekend?! Hope it was fun!
I took spinning right after college and LOVED it. Except the first few times you are get so sore - it's painful. But after you get over that hump, it's so nice!
ReplyDeleteI love nights in, but I end up falling asleep during movie time! Lol. I'm sorry your heat went out - that is NO FUN!
ReplyDeleteBeing at home makes me happy too! But spin class...not so much. hah!! I told my instructor once after a spin class that I'd rather not feel like I've just given birth after a spin class....ouch! I hope your heat comes back on ASAP!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to take a spinning class every week and LOVED it! It is seriously one of my favorite workouts! Good for y'all going and getting your workout in early!! I am definitely learning to appreciate our time at home more! After always being on the go, it is so nice to just be able to stay home. Glad y'all had a good weekend, hoping they are able to come fix your heat ASAP!
ReplyDeleteI really hope your heat gets fixed ASAP! As much as I would love to own a house, things like that happening scare me. Because like you said, when you rent...not your problem to fix it.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope your heater is fixed soon! In our old apartment we had to have a space heater running 24/7 in the winter because the heating system was awful and never kept it warm. It wasn't fun so I feel bad you guys are without heat! Also, I'm positive I would keel over and die if I took a spin class haha.
ReplyDeleteI would love to take a spinning class but you've scared me a bit with those miles! 25 just may kill me.
ReplyDeleteAw, yeah, gotta love spin class! And from the photos it looks like you are an LA Fitness-goer? I so miss my LA Fitness spin classes... the ones at my new gym are good, but just not as good. Sounds like a great weekend - I love being at home too.
ReplyDeleteAh!! I hate that your heater went out! Right in the middle of winter. You've got to love it! But you are so right...renting for the win! I can't wait to get back into a little gym routine (although it may be months from now).
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!! Early morning workouts always feel SO GOOD! I need to remind myself of that ;)
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! hope your heat gets fixed soon. definitely a bonus of renting! good job on the early morning class! i haven't taken a spin class in.. oh, 4 years? and i'm doing one tomorrow with my friend. not looking forward to it hahaha
ReplyDeleteLove love love spinning!
ReplyDeleteOh no, what a bummer about your heat! January is the worst possible time not to have working heat! Stay warm! I prefer to be home too, and I'm okay with it. I will be a million times happier at home on a Saturday night with my husband and comfy clothes and a movie and maybe a friend or two than I would be at a club. No question. :)
