I'm not sure what happened, but sometime last Fall I just started to let go of my blog a little bit. I used to blog 3, 4, sometimes even 5 times a week...now it's more like 2 MAYBE 3 times a week. I guess my mind has just been in other places, preoccupied with starting our business and starting our new young adult group at church. We've definitely had a lot going on but life really is slowing down a bit which feels great. Having free weekends makes my heart sing, ha! I do still love to blog, but I do have to say I just miss opening up a blank post and just writing. While I love link ups and favorite things posts, I'm going to try and write a little bit more from the heart like I used to.
I also just think blogging has changed a lot over the last few years, and I miss 2013 blog days, ha! It seemed so much easier. My SIL Erin wrote about that here and basically took the words from my mouth! It's crazy, but I'm thankful for everyone who comes back to read my silly little space on the internet :)
So what's new with us?
-We've had a few new consultations for our photography business which has been so so awesome. We're meeting some of the sweetest people!!!
-Update: OUR HEAT IS FIXED. Hallelujah! I got that glorious notification yesterday while I was at work and was over the moon I wouldn't have to go home to a chilly house. Seriously guys, it got down to 60 in our house. IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER! Yikes. Not what I'd call fun!
-However, our power went out last night due to high wind conditions (sadly it was in the middle of making dinner, but I'm happy my workout was at least done), but it helped us to unplug and be together. We popped in a movie in Caleb's laptop (that luckily had a full charge, still) and then read for a while under candlelight. The power was only out for a couple of hours, thankfully!

-My sweet friend Anna could have her baby ANY DAY NOW and I'm dying of excitement! She says I'm on the "must call" list when something happens, and I have to say I'm honored :) blogging has given me so many GENUINE friendships!
-I'm still going hard on the Tone It Up workout plan (#TIUteam) and week 2 is just as killer as week 1. I don't know how I made it through 45 more minutes of cardio last night after the daily moves, but I'm loving all the free workout videos I'm finding via Youtube! Shoutout to Becky for doing this challenge w/ me! ;) our daily workout snaps keep me going!
-We're still eating healthy at night, which was always both of our biggest downfalls. Last year, the routine/schedule of our 9-5 style work days kept us healthy and on track, then we'd get home and do a lot of late night snacking, so its been nice holding each other accountable and seeing results!
-Caleb and I started new books that really give each other insight on WHY we are the way we are. No matter how much I love my husband, there will always be things he'll do that I'll never understand, and vice versa! So he's reading a book called Captivating which is kind of like getting a peek into a woman's soul, and I'm reading Wild at Heart, which is more about why men are the way they are. I have to say it's been really cool and eye opening. They also bring us a little closer to God with each turn of the page, which we love!
-I haven't had coffee all year (this is where it sounds like it's been forever, when in reality, we're only 11 days into the new year, HA). I normally only had a small cup at work to curb my appetite before lunch so I wouldn't eat something sweet, but I'm trying to replace that with water for the most part.
-I didn't splurge on a big name-brand planner this year. As much as I LOVED my Erin Condren planner last year and think it's worth every penny, I wanted to mix things up. I surprisingly found the cutest 2017 planner at TJ Maxx and it even came with a buttload of stickers/extras! PS, check out my SIL & her friends sticker biz and get yourself some!! I know I will be, soon!
Hope everyone is having a great start off to their New Year! Remember, if you've maybe relaxed on your NY goals, it's never to late to get back on track! You've got this!

Okay 1. Yes I miss old blogging too and totally have fallen off!
ReplyDelete2. YAY Tone it Up! I've been doing it for years now and love their youtube videos! I've purchased a few DVDs now but their freebies are so awesome too
3. My husband and I read Captivating and Wild at Heart while we were dating, SO GOOD for us. Hope you guys enjoy those reads :)
I think it's totally okay that you've did less blogging and more living. That's what it's all about! Blogging should bring you joy at the end of the day! :)
ReplyDeleteWOOOO HOOOO for y'all's heat being fixed!! It was so, so windy here yesterday too. Love that y'all took the power outage and made it into a positive thing, even if it's not the most fun thing!! I have been seeing your snaps and posts about the Tone It Up workout plan that I am going to check it out!! I need to start something, even if I am two weeks behind lol. Yay for no coffee so far this year!! Two weeks is a great start!!!!! Matthew and I had talked about giving up cokes in 2017, completely, but then decided to just allow ourselves to have one coke a day on the weekends. So Monday-Friday, it's just water, smoothies, and occasionally a fruit juice. So far we have done pretty well on this and I actually only had one coke this whole past weekend, I shocked myself lol. Happy Wednesday, friend!! :)
ReplyDeleteooh what a great idea to get a planner at tj maxx! i might have to keep an eye out for next year. yay for your heat but what a bummer about the power. glad it wasn't too long.
ReplyDeletei guess blogging is still that way for me, people come and go, and some people want something different from blogging than i do, and i don't really care to follow those people (that sounds horrible) because i'm more interested in people i consider friends. whatever works, you know? i blog less when there are things going on in my life, like there are now. good job on no coffee this year!
Now that you guys are on your own with the Photography, are you no longer working with the company you started with? If I were you I'd totally start renting booths at the bridal shows to get your name out there.
ReplyDeleteI miss old blogging too! The change makes me so sad. Keep up what you're doing, though, because you're one of the ones who keeps it old-school.
ReplyDeleteWild at heart is so good! And I'm so glad your heat is fixed!
ReplyDeleteBlogging has changed SO MUCH! I used to write five days a week, but then life got busy and I quit for a couple years. Now that I'm back, it's completely different. What did I miss while I was gone?! Lol
ReplyDeleteI miss old blogging too. My eyes got so big when you said you haven't had coffee all year until I then read the only been 11 days part. That's still a long time though. Props to you!
ReplyDeleteI miss the old days of blogging too! I'm grateful there are still some people around who don't do outfit posts every day and are constantly linking to things!! :)
ReplyDeleteI've had no caffeine this year so no coffee or pop and sometimes I just wish I could bath in it I'm so tired but I've upped my water game that's been such a good thing. I feel so good being completely hydrated.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - I miss old blogging too!
ReplyDelete#countdowntocaleb is still on.
I love that you're reading Wild At Heart and Caleb is reading Captivating! It's been years since I've read Captivating, but what you're doing sounds like a great idea!
I am also doing TIU workouts! I actually started receiving their emails around August, but it took a few months for me to actually open them and try them. I try to do at least the 5 moves every day, but sometimes that is a struggle! I like how its brainless (just need to look at a webpage), requires little equipment, and is always changing.
ReplyDeleteJackson and I did the Captivating/Wild at Heart studies in FCA in High School, but they're on our list to revisit this year!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a lot of people are ditching their Erin Condren planners this year haha. I had one picked out from Hobby Lobby that I'd already written the dates into but a friend gave me this gorgeous one as a gift for being in her wedding so I decided to use that one. I just love planners!! Also, I miss the old blogging too. I have a hard time coming up with things to write about anymore but I've been trying to write at least once a week. Maybe 2017 will bring the "old" blogging back!
ReplyDeleteI just read Erin’s blog post about what’s changed and you’re right—those words are so true. I love coming back to your blog because it’s personable and different than what else is out there these days. Half the time they’re tryin’ to sell something :)
ReplyDeleteYikes, can’t believe your heat went out in the winter time! Hope you’re having a great first month into the New Year, sounds like it!
