Caleb and I are officially trying hard to lose a few pounds. The last month or so we've been "so so" with our eating, prepping, etc.! Yet we still found ourselves indulging in donuts, fast food, and late night treats more often than not. I can hardly fit into any of my pants, and its pretty dang depressing.
I'm honestly not sure what happened with me, but last Fall I just started losing control of my eating. In a matter of 6 months, I gained 15 lbs. Basically skipping lunch and instead heading to the gas station to gorge on candy for the rest of the afternoon. Indulging in pop for basically every meal, and definitely not exercising like I had been in previous months. I kept saying I'd start fresh "tomorrow" with my old healthy lifestyle, but tomorrow kept getting pushed off. I constantly told myself "everything was fine in moderation" (which I do believe) but lets be honest, I wasn't eating in moderation, I was eating until I was FULL and until it hurt.
Instead of complaining about how we feel constantly, we decided that we can do this. We're in charge of our own lives. We can hold each other accountable. WE can make the change.
We have a date in mind to get back to our wedding weight, but more than that, we're focusing on making this a lifestyle change as well! I don't care so much about the number on the scale as I do about how I feel. But, by the end of July when we go on our trip with the teens from church (like we did last Summer), we want to feel more like our "old selves". This means getting back into a routine of being more active. Waking up to hit the gym, staying outside a little longer to enjoy the sunshine, prepping our lunches in advance, etc.!
I'm a happier wife when I'm a healthier wife...and in order to serve my husband best, I need to be the healthiest version of me that I can be! There's something about taking more control of your life in one area that just makes it trickle down into the rest. Caleb and I are saving money, eating better, working out more, and in turn its making us feel less stressed, which I love.
If you have a favorite meal you prep in advance for the week, please let me know! I'd love to add it to our work-lunch rotation!

So glad that you guys are in this together to make it a lifestyle change! I think that's when everything is the most successful!
ReplyDeleteI think crock pot meals are the best! Crockpot salsa chicken is a go-to in our house. Dump and go, come home and eat!
I started June off with this less junk, more feeling good. 9 days in and it's been such a fresh experience for me. I have more energy and I am not as crabby. It's amazing what treating your body well can do for you mentally.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to both of you! I'm trying to do the same thing this summer: eat better, workout more. On Monday I made zucchini lasagna. I've been eating it all week. I have others that I've made in that past that I can email to you to if you'd like but here's the lasagna: http://beyondfitphysiques.com/healthy-lasagna/ (not gonna lie I got crabby with the cutting of the zucchini & such but in the end I decided I didn't care if it looked perfect & just put it together the best I could & it was still delicious)
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!!! It for sure is a life style change. My fav meal is to throw brussels, broccoli and sweet potato chopped up into the oven with olive oil and salt, top it with some fish or chicken and you have a perfect meal! I'll make a bunch and eat on it for days!
ReplyDeleteWay to go!! I'm sure you all will be able to rock that goal in no time. :) I love roasting sweet potato wedges (instead of regular potatoes) and eating that with ranch turkey balls and a salad.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! One thing we do is we go to Sam's Club/Costco and buy veggies, salad, etc in bulk and we don't go to the store until we've used up everything. Don't try to give up your soda, because that will be hard, but instead do a diet or go to a zero soda (I love love love Coke zero, Fanta zero) so you're still getting the caffeine but not the calories.
ReplyDeleteYou got this girl!!! :) As soon as I'm cleared to really exercise again, we should try out Zumba again. Even if it's just once a month to mix it up!
ReplyDeleteYa'll got this chica! Can't wait to hear all about the journey!
ReplyDeleteYou get it, girl! :) One lunchtime favorite is Aidell's chicken & apple sausages. I grill a whole pack at a time and reheat them daily. Also: have you checked out Whole30 at all? It might not be for everyone, but I liked it as a way to reset a relationship with food.
ReplyDeleteYou guys got this!! It's nice to have each other to encourage, motivate and keep you accountable! Plus a built in workout buddy is always nice :) I need to do a better job at meal planning so I'll be seeing what others comment with on here!
ReplyDeleteSetting a date to get back to your wedding weight is a great idea! Go girl!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone struggles with this at one time or another. You aren't alone! Cutting out pop WILL be a great thing to do. I honestly only drink half a Sprite every other month or so! Otherwise it's water for me. Boring, but it makes me feel better! I prep frozen breakfast burritos, and I recently found a recipe for muffins that are really good and healthy! Greek yogurt carrot muffins from running with spoons.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm in the same boat, I think it's awesome y'all are working together. Delicious salads are my favorite!!!!! You got this!
ReplyDeleteYES, GIRL. Get it! When I started my antidepressants, I gained 25 pounds in three months. It was AWFUL. I've since lost 12 of that, but still working to get back to where I was. This inspires me to try harder!
ReplyDelete'I'm a happier wife when I'm a healthier wife' - yes. i am a happier person, and that includes being a wife, when i am healthy. i have a cruise this weekend and i am not healthy or happy in my body right now. i had so much time to prepare, but like you said.. tomorrow just kept getting pushed back.
