Trying to decide on travel plans.

Caleb and I have been saying since this past summer that we need to start looking at vacation plans for 2015...that has yet to happen. We always joke we'll just hit up another all inclusive, out of the country resort...however, there's something inside of me yelling BE CRAZY. As busy as Caleb and I are most of the time, you'd think I'd crave a relaxing beach vacation...and while I would love that, I also kind of want some adventure.

If it were up to me we'd probably either do a week at Disney in Florida (and visit some beaches while we were there) or a road trip along the East Coast and see a TON of states in about 7-10 days. The other day, a co-worker said to me "You really want to go to Disney for vacation? But you don't have kids"....uh, really?!? Sorry I'm a grown adult who loves all things Monsters Inc, Toy Story and Frozen!! Actually, no, I'm not sorry ;)

So if that happens, you know I'll be asking for tips/advice from all of you, especially from my SIL who went back-to-back years...she's a pro! Caleb and I have only taken one long vacation together, and that was our honeymoon in Mexico - so I'd like to see a little more of the U.S. together. I would love to rent a car and just hit the road with a very loose agenda. Have a couple hotels booked, but just see where the road takes us, literally! Traveling is so much fun, and yes, while we ARE aggressively paying off our debt (finally), we both agree that vacations are a necessity. In the big picture, we'd only get out of debt a month or two earlier and we're paying for them all in cash - so to us? It's 100% worth it.

Where are some fun vacation spots you've been too on the East Coast? I need some fun ideas to present to Caleb! We're open to West Cost stuff, too!

  1. 1)I've been road tripping up the east coast a few times and it is b-e-a-tiful! Freddie and I actually talked about maybe doing that again this summer! Well, again for me for first time for us together.

    2) GIRL, you know I will answer any and all your Disney needs!! Haha.

    3) I didn't think I would fall in love with the west coast like I did on our trip to California, but here I am almost 4 months later and I still have the vacation blues. Seriously, probably the best trip of my life at this point.

  6. Definitely go to Disney before you have kids! You can ride all the fun rides without having to worry about who will sit out with the baby!

  7. I think I told you this before but we did an east coast road trip for 2 weeks 2 summers ago. We started in VA (obviously) and went up to Baltimore, NYC, Boston, New Hampshire, then back down to Boston, NYC, Philly, DC, then home. It was the best vacation ever and we want to do the same thing on the west coast sooner rather than later. It was such a fun experience!

  8. Because I'm completely biased, I live in Florida, LOVE Disney at an unnatural level, and because Disney World is just plain awesome no matter what your age is... I'm screaming pick Disney lol! Hunter and I are taking our trip there next year and I honestly cannot contain my excitement lol!

  9. How about a Great Lakes tour? New York, Niagra, Michigan (both UP and the Mitten), Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, and Indy. You would make a big circle! :)

  10. Ohhh..I often spend hours planning vacations that I may never take. Oops. There are just so many amazing places to see! I desperately want to go to Boston (I've never been!), but I really love NYC, DC, and Baltimore as far as the east coast goes.

  11. don't let anybody rag on disney. my husband and I plan on going for our second year anniversary and we have been several times together. You get to ride rides, drink ,and eat the most insane food--whats not to love! I also recommend charleston--plenty to do and the beach is right next door :)

  12. Keith and I are in the same traveling boat! I've currently gotten our travel agent to give us info on Jamaica, PC and Bahamas. We'd also like to go down and do Universal, and maybe hit up Disney again. No joke when I say if you plan Disney, we will talk because my sister was a cast member there, I can give you info (as can Erin, haha) and that's where we went on our honeymoon. As for the East Coast, the Carolinas are amazing, specifially Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, which I have many suggestions on specific places there too. Good luck planning!

  13. Vacation-planning is the best. Eric and I are planning a week in Savannah, Georgia for next year and even though we haven't been there yet, it looks amazing. It's a cute, historic town and not even an an hour from Hilton Head, South Carolina. Maybe you could hit up both!

  14. i'm not a pro on the east coast, but austin and i are huge gulf coast fan, so if you want beach recos for the gulf, lemme know. a couple years ago we did disney and universal and then headed to st pete to finish out the week. so fun to get to go to disney and universal but also spend some time at the beach!

  15. I told your SIL this too, but any questions you have about Disney I will gladly answer!! If you went to beaches, you could go to the gulf coast and go to Clearwater/St. Petersburg/Tampa/Siesta Key(my fave!)! OR you could always go the Atlantic side as well! The East Coast would be awesome! That's something that's on my bucket list too! My boyfriend and I just got back from Disneyland and I'm already trying to plan our next trip out there! Vacation planning is the best! :)
