Taking that leap today.

Yesterday, I was home from work sick with a terrible migraine, thankfully, as the day went on, it got to be more bearable. I was able to even get a work out in and cook dinner! Then think about a big decision that has been on my mind recently.
You see, nearly two weeks ago I was approached at work with an interesting job offer. This was completely unexpected. I mean, I've worked hard at my job and I have to say I'm pretty good at it. However, this new job offer has caused me some serious stress over the past 2 weeks. I love what I do, I love the co-workers I'm near, but I really didn't know what was holding me back from taking this job immediately.

Then it hit me last night as I was in tears over it.
I was scared.
Scared to come out of the comfort of my everyday, and try something new. I prayed all day for an answer! Wouldn't it just be so easy for God to come down here and TELL ME what to do!? I bet He's havin' a good laugh at me now.

I kept seeing small signs and hearing things said to me; "step out of your comfort zone" "God's plan is bigger than yours!" "trust in Him!"... so I decided to take the plunge and accept the offer today...and yeah, I'm kind of terrified I wont be good at this, or that I won't like my day to day experience at the office...but I've decided to take that leap of faith and say yes to this new adventure.

God's got this, why should I worry?

Our big news!

I've thrown out a few teasers on the blog & on my twitter account
I've told you all that Caleb and I have some big news and that it probably WASN'T what you'd first expect.
I've also been so pumped to tell you guys this, but wasn't sure how to put it into words.

Let me back up here, ever since I was young...my dream has been to pursue a career in photography. On my 20th birthday, Caleb surprised me with my first DSLR. My sweet Nikon, ohh how I love her. Since then, my "hobby" turned into a passion, quickly. I was practicing on family members, friends, couples I knew, etc. Word got out that I did it "for fun", so I charged families next to nothing for my work. This continued for nearly two years.

Don't get me wrong, I love my day job...but it just doesn't get me as excited as holding my camera in my hands...putting a new lens on my camera's body...or finding that perfect golden glow as the sunsets when you're photographing a family in a field.

Back track, you guys remember me bragging on our amazing wedding photographers, right!?

WELLLLLL.
The last day of July this past summer, they asked us to grab dinner with them. We connected instantly with them when we first met, so I thought nothing unusual about it. Little did I know, my life was about to change. They took us to dinner at this wonderful little pizza joint Downtown, and we small talked for a good hour.

Then...then then then, they straight up asked if Caleb and I would be interested in joining their business that is Innovatory Photography.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UM!
GAME CHANGER.
Holy what!?
Did I even have to think about it!? This was my dream. It took all I had not to just cry right there. We immediately accepted this new position and when we ran off to the car I just couldn't stop crying. We called our best friends and shared the great news, all the while I look like a goofy fool laughing hysterically at myself because I cannot believe what just happened.

Caleb looked at me and said "Babe, your dreams are coming true."

You see, months before this I had prayed for God to bring me an opportunity that would allow for me to expand my skills and knowledge in photography so that I could see if it was what I was meant to do or not. God is a funny man, yeah? Not only did he bring this opportunity to me, he multiplied the blessings that I wasn't even expecting. The super cool part? I finally had confidence in myself as a photographer. That was huge!

So now what?
Innovatory is now made up of two husband and wife photo teams (holllaaa!) who want to document weddings in a raw, candid, fantastic way. I am elaaaated, you guys. Straight up.

The past few weekends (Woops! I've been a little secretive, sorry!), we've shadowed them at a couple weddings, and we are also shadowing them tonight. It's been so cool to just watch two very experienced photographers do what they do, watch how they work, what lenses they use at certain times, the way they think, etc. We've learned SO much just by watching them, and can't wait to continue bettering our own shots.

So! As of last Thursday, Caleb and I are officially on their website, taking clients.
Who would've known that within 48 hours, 3 brides would show interest in our services? Not only that, but that I'd have my first 3 consultations back to back to back with them two days later, all in one evening.
The best news? One of the brides booked on the spot... the other two booked within 2 days.
!!!! We already have three weddings booked for 2014.

I cannot even tell you how excited I am. Caleb and I are getting experience we would've otherwise never received...we're getting our names out there, and our lives are changing. I get to do more of what I love...and it makes me so happy just typing this I think I could cry.

Here's to the future!
Cheers.
