Like most bloggers, I follow a lot of other bloggers/women who inspire me on a daily basis. Some of them are friends I've known for years, others are near-celebrities I've never met. One of these gals I follow on instagram is Emily Ley. I'm SURE you've heard of her by now, but if not go check her out!!
This month she started something called the Simplicity Challenge - 2016! As if I needed another reason to stalk her page... now I'm checking in daily with her to see what that day's challenge is! As someone who always claims she wants life to be less stressful, etc., I don't make a lot of effort day in and day out to make this happen. Enter: The Simplicity Challenge.
Every morning I check in and see what that day holds...and try my best to make it happen, and if I can't, I write it down and give myself until the end of that week. I can successfully say its already made my life feel less stressful. It can be something as simple as cleaning out your car/home/etc., but I'm a firm believer that lack of physical clutter means lack of emotional clutter... and I'm ALL for that.
While we do have 3 weddings this month, we'll have a good break after that! I'm going to try my hardest not to let life get CRAZY like it did last year. Last year? I experienced a real anxiety attack, cried myself to sleep several times, and didn't make a ton of time to just BE. Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing year of personal and professional growth, but it was definitely challenging at times. So this year, I want to be more intentional on keeping my stress levels low. It can be easy to get overwhelmed, but I'm hoping small tasks like this will be a step in the right direction.
Happy hump day, friends!
What a great idea, I will have to check this out.
ReplyDeleteI've got a free morning so I think I just might grab some trash bags on go to town! On the fridge, too #ew. What a great idea! She's probably so great because her name is Emily ;) (ha! kidding).
ReplyDelete& you're such a sweet happy loving person-yiu deserve a low stress life :) it's in your blood!! I'm going to go check her out right now. I always love a challenge. Love you roommate. :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a wonderful idea! Simplifying is the best!!
ReplyDeleteTHIS. The challenge is fantastic. Thanks for letting me know about it. I so agree....getting rid of physical/emotional clutter frees you...and it has to be intentional. You had a BUSY year last year....so the anxiety is totally understandable. Sometimes I feel like I have to experience the lowest of low before I realize I need to just be, like you said, and take care of me!!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is awesome and I will definitely have to check her page out. Love the concept of living more simply. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteMe tooooooo! Keeping stress levels low is a huge priority for me this year as well!
ReplyDeleteI need to try this!!! Brilliant. I've been purging like a woman gone mad lately.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching her page each day for these updates, too! I've been saving them all and I'm going to do this challenge again in a few months when I feel like I need it again!
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree about physical clutter causing emotional clutter... one of my goals for January, and I'm well on my way, is to simplify SO many things in my life... from every room in my house, to my bills, to social media... and it feels SO good!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh this challenge sounds amazing! I agree with you girl, make sure you take some time this year just for you!
ReplyDeleteI've been following along daily, too!! She's awesome :)
ReplyDeletelove the idea of this challenge, i sometimes get so overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done that i do nothing haha. but one small thing a day is a great idea. i hope you're able to have a much less stressful year girl.
ReplyDeleteI hope this year is simplified for you - I know the feeling of being overwhelmed and it's not fun!
ReplyDeleteYou know what will help keep your stress levels low? A visit from me!!!! Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI really need to check this out! We're in the process of de-cluttering our lives (physically and figuratively) so this sounds like it's my cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteI love these examples - definitely makes me want to check the whole thing out! I feel like I stay pretty organized and clutter-free pretty well, but I also have anxiety levels that skyrocket really quickly when anything is out of routine... so maybe concrete little things like this would help calm me down. I hope the simplicity helps make the start of your 2016 great!!
ReplyDeletei've seen those images popping up on instagram all month – what a great idea. i'm going to have to look into a little more and possibly do it in february. thanks for sharing :)
