New & improved

Last night was my first day back at the gym... in over 8 weeks. Did you read that correctly? In over EIGHT WEEKS! I've noticed a recent trend lately in my overall personality... I'm always tired, I'm always feeling gross, I'm always eating whatever I want... well, that stops now! It has to stop... as I said last night on my Instagram, I'm just "sick and tired of feeling sick and tired". No more excuses.

It's time to get back in shape. Hardly any of my pants fit comfortably, and that's just not acceptable anymore! I've already been logging my food, cutting out pop and I'm saying no to treats more often because they should be just that, the occasional treat! NOT something I have after nearly every meal just because I feel like it. I've gained quite a few extra pounds since the new year and I don't like that at all. Time to be a better ME!

I'll admit, my little trip to the gym last night was anything but pleasant. Our apartment complex was having a "resident appreciation night" and selling $5 pizzas in the parking lot, my run sucked and I found out halfway through my stay at the gym that someone left the flippin' HEAT running on an 80 degree day! I thought I was going to die...but you know what? I didn't. I completed almost 2 miles and walked uphill for some of it. Like I said, it wasn't the most amazing workout, but I still don't regret it!

Something about getting one part of your life back in order makes you just want to be better in all areas...so Caleb and I are calling this a new beginning for us. We want to be the best US we can be... in every part of our lives. That means making more time for reading instead of netflix binging, more time outside and less time on the couch (which we have been pretty good about already, yay), more healthy meals/meal planning rather than sporadic trips to Chipotle/Donatos. We're excited about these small changes and think that they'll make a huge difference in our overall habits.

What are YOU doing to be a better you this month?

  1. Literally said the same words last week. It had been almost two months since I had been in the gym. I haven't missed a day since last Wednesday! It really is so true that when you have one part of your life in order, you desire order in all aspects. Definitely focusing on a better me this month!

  2. There's nothing worse than when all of your clothes start to fit too tight! I lead a Healthy Living Program with Arbonne (protein powder, fiber, etc) - it has been amazing for me to keep me on track with my health, fitness, and ENERGY levels. I'd love to send you some samples of the product if you're interested! Let me know and I'll put some goodies in the mail :-)

  5. Proud of you for getting back at it! I can't believe you worked out in a heated room on a summer day. Nope. That's precisely when I turn right back around, buy a $5 pizza, and then do some planking and crunches out of guilt. Ha! Keep it up, girl!!

  6. Yay for getting back into good habits! I've been slacking too. I've only ran twice in the last couple of weeks and we've eaten out more times that I can count! I really need to find some great healthy recipes.

  11. YAY! You did it. Now that you got the first one out of the way - just keep it up. :) I always say that the more you make yourself work, the more you can treat yourself. Work hard, play hard.

  12. I feel the same way when I don't workout for a little while! It's funny how getting all sweaty and tired will make you feel great overall! :) Wish we could be running with each other!! Gah I don't get why gyms don't have AC on all the time?! Hellllo people are sweating in there! But good job for pushing through it!! It's always a nice feeling to know you did it and can do it again!! :)

  13. I am right there with you girl! Ready to support you and help you in anyway that I can. I know I do a ton better when other people know about my goals and check in with me. I am adding in a second Body Pump class so I will now go Mondays and Wednesdays! And I have the itch to take up running again now that it's nice out.

  14. I love taking time to reflect on what I've been doing lately and setting some goals to be a better me. I try to do it frequently because it's easy to slip into bad habits! I'm actually working on a new health goal right now too because I was out of the gym for a week and visiting with my best friend which brought along a TON of not so good food choices! :) Can't wait to get it going!
