Three weeks ago today, my life changed.
Ha! Sounds so dramatic, right? But seriously...it was 3 weeks ago when I sat down with my husband and told him I needed to make a serious life change. I wasn't sleeping well, my skin kept breaking out, I was always tired and had no energy left after work. Not to mention the spare tire that was beginning to form around my waist...gahh.
So what did he do? Supported me 100%. He ran to Meijer to buy me my first protein shaker, as well as my first container of pre-workout AND protein. He also told me we were signing up for the gym together (I was reluctant at first because I didn't want to pay for it -- but it really is too good of a deal to pass up on!), and he'd help me every step along the way. I love that man.
3 weeks later I am proud to say we've worked out 4x each week. I'm not just talking running... Caleb is showing me how to lift, how to work out my abs, and my legs with all these machines that used to once intimidate me. I'm eating cleaner, and my body feels good.
Its safe to even say I'm a little addicted to the gym. Or maybe its the feeling of accomplishment I get once I leave? Either way, I'm loving it. One of my friends said to me last week, "I'm sure that feeling won't last, no one actually LIKES the gym...", uh, I do.
Its just funny to me, how many "attempts" I've made to eat cleaner/workout, but the health kick would never last more than a week. It truly was joining a gym that made me that much more committed. Something just clicked, and I'm excited.
Remember, if you're wanting to make a lifestyle change...no one is stopping you, but YOU! You can do anything you set your mind too. Promise!
Happy Tuesday, friends!
And I'm excited FOR you!! It's so inspiring to see you making this life change and committing to it, and I'm so happy that it's already had such a huge payoff in your life! Thanks for being awesome, friend :)
ReplyDeleteYay! That's great!! Good for you!! My fiance and I tried this a couple of weeks ago and failed... hahaha we need y'all's motivation!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go girl!! I've been a gym member for a few months now...I can't say I love it, but I've been going at least 2-3 times a week consistently and am definitely feeling so much better about myself!
ReplyDeleteYayya go you!! It's crazy how quickly it makes you feel a million times better, isn't it?! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteYou're doing awesome and I'm so proud of you!
ReplyDeleteI just joined a gym 2 weeks ago too! I had the same dilemma as you, there was NO way in hell I was going to pay the hundreds of dollars to join the Y or LA Fitness, no matter how much I wanted to take the workout classes! Then, I started work and realized I needed to go to the gym out of necessity (those server trays are heavyyyy). So now I go to my little $10/M planet fitness and it's great! I haven't been going regularly enough to get the workout high, but I am always extra productive and sleep so well after working out. Whenever I'm sore the next day I get all excited that my Victoria's Secret body is on its way! Hahahahah. No more scrawny arms here! So proud of you for making this lifestyle change! Can you just think about how sexy we'll all look when I finally make it to Ohio???
ReplyDeleteYes,...STARTING those changes is the hardest part, but once you realize how good you feel, it's easier to keep it up!
ReplyDeleteYay for writing about the gym today (I did too!!) you are doing great! When I first started going, I loved that D went with me to give me support. At first I only worked out with him, but as time passed I realized I didn't like his work out and was able to come up with my own. Now, we still go together, but we are doing our own things!
ReplyDeleteYay! So happy for you! Working out becomes like a drug after a while.. such a great feeling! =)
ReplyDeleteGo, Kayla, Go! Every Instagram or post you do about it makes me so proud! And excited. It really is true, eating clean makes such. a. difference. ! I make my older students do all sorts of ab work I've learned through dancing. They hate me. Maybe they'll thank me one day ;)
ReplyDeletehaving someone support you is really what helps you get through it, amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love the gym too! 2nd to missing the pup while we were on our honeymoon, I missed getting up and heading to crossfit. you go girl!
