A couple weeks in... &I have been "so so" in my training thus far.
When I say so, so...I mean I only ran 4 times.
As awesome as this is, my goal was to run 4X A WEEK.
That hasn't happened.
Why is it so darn hard for me to STICK TO SOMETHING!? As I was thinking about this last night...I came up short...there is NO reason I can't stick to it. It truly is my own mind or body telling me "no, not tonight...I don't feel like it." and half the time I actually listen to it.
Today is the day.
No more excuses.
I'm whipping my butt into shape.
No more excuses.
I'm whipping my butt into shape.
So, why exercise more? Why eat a little cleaner?
Because...this is the only body I get, I want to treat it right.
I'll have more energy.
I will have confidence in my decision making.
I'll sleep better at night.
To have more of a routine.
So I can feel accomplished.
Call me vain, but so I can feel confident in my own skin.
TO BE HEALTHY.
Back before our wedding I was running 30-40 miles a month for a little while there. It felt amazing. I had a goal to meet...and when I met it. The feeling I got was unlike anything I've ever felt. I did something for me... no prize involved, no material motivation...and it meant so much that I merely just did it for myself.
I want that feeling again.
I also dropped $70 on the half marathon registration fee...sooo, there's that, too.
I am just ready to feel like myself again...to be a runner. Like I used to be.
I realized I need to make God my priority...in everything I do. So, as corny as it sounds...I'm deciding to invite him on my every run. When I get tired? I'll pray that He will give me the strength to just keep going. To help me remember why I started...and most of all, to be thankful for the ability to even use my legs at all.
I saw this on Pinterest the other day and it hit me hard enough to make me write it down in my journal.
I'm also loving this quote as of late -- "Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do long after the mood you said it in has left you."
Anybody have a fitness secret they want to share? I'd love to know.
Stay happy, my friends!

I need motivation myself, it's like I do well for a week and then it falls to pieces! thanks for the motivation!
ReplyDeletei was the most motivated when i was training for a half last year. now that i'm not training for anything, i have zero motivation to go run! i think what helped with marathon training was having a set schedule and i put it in my phone. every single day of the 12 week program was entered on my phone. that way i saw it all day, everyday. good luck!
ReplyDeleteLove the runners prayer! You are such a great motivator! I think the secret is to actually stay motivated. That's where my problems lie. But posts like these help make my motivation last! Thanks! =)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite songs is "Do Everything" by Stephen Curtis Chapman...I like to slip it into my running playlist so it comes on right when I know I'll be ready to give up. It reminds me of exactly what you're saying--when you're too tired to run for yourself, or for your health, or for any other reason--run for God, run out of thankfulness that you're *able* to run.
ReplyDeleteLove that runner's prayer! Thanks for my daily dose of motivation! :)
ReplyDeleteWE. GOT. THIS!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou got this, sister...He is one your side!! Maybe I need to pray that He gives me the strength to even put tennis shoes on and pretend I am going to run or workout! LOL! Kidding...well sort of!! I need to turn this fluff into fit!! ;)
ReplyDeleteIn your defense, running 4 times a week is really hard. But...you can totally do it. I heard a really great tip....every time you work out, put a dollar (or 2) into a jar...and think of something you really want to buy. That could motivate you to do it!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I could have written this! While I am no where near a half or whole marathon, I need to make my fitness a priority. I need to get off of my butt and run! I also need to make Christ a priority. He's always there for me, and I know I need to return the favor. Fingers crossed that today is the day for both of us!!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it friend!!! I wish I could run with you so we could both keep motivated :) But I think it really is just telling yourself you are going to do it!
ReplyDeleteI know you can do it! Now that it's getting cooler I really want to get up and run. There is jut a tiny issue about me being scared of the dark but I could always just do a workout video! YOU CAN DO THIS!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it, Kayla! It can be so easy to say "not tonight" (I did that tonight...oops), but you are so right about it feeling darn good to accomplish something like this. I like to write the number of miles I run each day on the calendar... it helps remind me how far I've come! Creating a fun, new playlist can help too :)
ReplyDeleteWow I love the runner's prayer. Running 4x a week is a lot girl! I just try to get in a workout 3-4 times a week. If I can go for 4-5 then I'm really feeling proud! You got this!
