I don't know if I mentioned it here or not, but my employer has a daily radio show as well as a news spot on our local news everyday. In February they are covering reviews of subscription boxes (like Graze, Stitch Fix, Blue Apron, etc.), and they chose me to do a review of Stitch Fix! Which means they want to come to my house Friday morning, record me opening it and get my opinions, and also show a snippet of my current closet. Which means co workers in my house...not only in my house...but in my bedroom. SO this means I need to get busy cleaning. Like yesterday.
I know how popular Stitch Fix is and I've always been a little intrigued by it. Although I love new clothes and accessories like any other sane person, Caleb and I (at least while we're still in debt) don't go shopping all the time and spend money on clothes we don't really need (unless its a really, really good deal). But still, my company is paying for this Stitch Fix box so, I accepted their offer ;)
Sooo that brings me back to the fact that I need to clean our house...bad. It's mostly "surface clean", as in, non-cluttered in most areas, but I'd like to deep-clean it tonight. This made me think of starting a cleaning schedule for Caleb and I to ensure we never let our house get gross again! There are seriously thousands of them online and every one is so different and some of them are a little overwhelming. Who has time to vacuum every other day?!?! I don't want to scrub my shower every 3 days! Am I the only one who doesn't wash their sheets every 7 days exactly?! Now I feel gross, ha! #dontjudgeme
This one appealed to me the most and I'm excited to start keeping up with it next week! I kind of like the freedom that it doesn't say "Monday do this, Tuesday do this", and I can fit it in anytime that week that works within our schedule.

There is just something so awesome about having a clean house. Unexpected company arrives? No worries. No stress over last minute cleaning before having guests, etc.! I also just sleep better at night knowing there's less crummy stuff in the cricks and cracks!
Anyone have a nice cleaning schedule they keep up with?! I'd love to know!
That's so fun that you get to try StitchFix AND do a fun review of it. Cleaning schedules...I never had a good one. Until I got an every-other-Monday cleaning lady :)
ReplyDeleteI shower in the evenings so I stretch my sheet washing to every 2 weeks or so because I'm literally the cleanest I ever am when I get into bed each night. I don't really have a set cleaning system I just kind of tidy as I go along and usually do a more intense clean on Sunday and once every 6 weeks or so do more of a clean & declutter process. Good luck with StichFix! I've never tried it because it seems way too pricy, but I'm curious to hear what you think!
ReplyDeleteSaving this! & no, you are not the only one who doesn't wash your sheets every 7 days, lol.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! how cool that you're getting to do this through your work.
ReplyDeletei would be freaking out as well. i always kept our house relatively non-cluttered and clean-ish, but definitely not deep clean.
i tried to do a cleaning schedule and it didn't really work for me. what worked was 15 minutes of tidying up or 'daily dos' like dishes etc and then i would do a deep clean every other weekend. there are lots of things on lists that i don't even do (i am horrible at dusting, i always forget) and i don't wash sheets every 7 days lol.
That list is awesome! My house is exactly the same way, it's de-cluttered and picked up and looks clean, but it needs a major deep cleaning. The nitty gritty in the kitchen and bathrooms need lots of attention. I wish I could side-eye myself :-P

I just clean daily. 2 days a week are cleaning days and the others I consider spot cleaning days. I simply keep things in order so we are always company ready. Also... my OCD won't let messes lay for long. Kid be damned.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a list person. I love this schedule! I will be implementing ASAP. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to follow Clean Mama's challenges, and I printed off a few of her schedules/checklists which I LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWhat's a cleaning schedule? ;) In all honesty we talk about doing that but in reality we usually only clean before an event. There's just no time in the day. I'd rather be doing something than cleaning, ha!
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of having a schedule and I've been working towards one too. I always feel like I spend half my weekend cleaning and, well, that's not how I want to spend my free time! I don't have a schedule nailed down yet like the one above, but here are my thoughts on cleaning so far... all laundry once a week (on Saturdays). Sure it's a lot of loads in one day but knowing that EVERYTHING is done on one day and put away for the week ahead avoids the whole 'where's that shirt I need?!' in the mornings while we're getting ready for work / school. I know you don't have kids yet so that might not be a biggie for you but it is for us! And that way I don't have to worry about doing a load in the evenings after work too. Grocery shopping on the weekends is big too so I don't have to worry about it during the week... not related to cleaning but it helps the schedule for sure!
ReplyDeleteI've seen some really good schedules, and cleaning tips, on the website Apartment Therapy. I was pretty good for a few months but I've been traveling a lot for work lately which totally throws me off a routine!! That's so exciting about the Stitch Fix! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSo, I basically assign each room a week on a 4-week schedule. Week 1 = Bathrooms, 2 = Bedrooms, 3 = Kitchen, 4 = Living Room. I throw in the other rooms (Dining room, front hall, garage, etc.) where it makes sense, ie Dining room is cleaned on the living room week. I also consider week 3 rooms as sister rooms to 1 (and 4 to 2), so while my primary cleaning may be on the bathroom, I also will touch-up the kitchen. Also, I've recently started focusing on one specific wall or section of the assigned room each week, so I will give a dresser or cabinet or something on that wall a deep cleaning. I hope that makes sense!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a cleaning schedule, I usually just end up speed-cleaning an area right around the time that it gets so messy that I can't take it anymore. I really like the schedule you shared, for the same reasons as you... I cannot get tied down to a schedule that tells me which room to clean on what day. It's too difficult!
