All cooped up.

If you've been around this blog for any amount of time, you KNOW how much I love my Chickfila. Not only the tasty food, but how involved in the community they always are. I've spent many birthday dinners there, many date nights with Caleb and many Sundays spent wishing they were open.

I came across this article online about an Atlanta CFA that started a "cell phone coop" for families who show up for dinner. If the family promises to keep their phones in it for the entirety of their meal, they'll all land themselves a free ice cream cone.

Can I just say that regardless of bribing someone with ice cream (which would totally work for me, by the way), this is an awesome idea and I pray people who visit their restaurant will partake. Regardless of getting ice cream or not, its so important for people to spend time looking at the person/people they love instead of that bright phone screen every single night.

There are just so many people on their phones on date night. While I definitely think its fine here and there, and its fun to show each other funny videos back and forth and laugh so hard we cry, or snag a quick picture to document life when you're together...I think its equally as important to talk about our days, to talk about our futures, to talk about anything and nothing at all etc.!

I was talking to Amanda a few weeks ago about how we've both used "conversation starters" with our husbands in the past. At first, they both thought it was kind of silly, but when we got into the questions, it sparked some really awesome, deeper level conversations. Ladies (and gentlemen), I challenge you to get to know your better half EVEN better this week.

Here are a few questions to ask your "person";

What's your first memory of me?
What's the dumbest thing you've ever done?
If you could witness something in history what would it be?
Would you rather always lose or never play?
How do you see our life in retirement?
If you could pick 3 foods to eat forever, what would they be?
What's another career you think you'd love?
What are your favorite things about yourself?
Would you rather meet your future grandkids or go back and meet your ancestors?

I'm sure you can think of tons more...but you get the idea! It's so important to invest in those you love...and sometimes that means having silly conversations with your hubby! ;)

  2. I get so sad when I see families and spouses on their phones throughout the meal. I understand waiting for a certain call or text or pulling out the phone for 'look at this article' but other than that put the phone away. I do similar conversation starts with my husband randomly, it's a fun game.

  3. It's so important and worth it to put our phones down when spending time with others. Nothing irks me more than a person sitting on their phone across from me while over a meal, and I just sit there quietly, staring until they're done. LOL!

  4. I'm obsessed with that outfit in the first picture. SO CUTE. I saw that Chick Fil A was doing the cell phone coop and I absolutely love it! I could use it because I'm guilty of scrolling through Instagram as we wait for our food to come out. Also, I really love these questions. I used to print pages of them out and we'd ask them on long road trips. Such a great way to pass the time and find even more out about any of your loved ones!

  7. YES. Conversations startes! Holla. I love the one about the 3 foods! Although Jordan would hate the question about what career you'd love because we've already talked about that and he couldn't think of anything and got depressed. LOL. Poor guy. He doesn't really have life plan... ANYWAY. 3 foods I'd eat forever? Mine are just off the top of my head: BLTs, fruit (ALL THE FRUIT), and roasted carrots.

  8. I love you baby girl. You are a breath of fresh air to me every time I see your face and all your posts. But I love seeing you more when I can give you a big squeeze.

  9. I love this! I worked at a restaurant for almost 2 years and it's unreal how many families hardly speak at dinner because parents and kids are both engrossed in their technology.
