How about a stay-cation?

So I have these vacation days that I have to use by the end of the year, or they go away. Like, FOR GOOD. Which means I'm going to take them, even without a real vacation planned. Caleb and I kept saying we'd plan a random all-inclusive trip somewhere, but we never actually sat down to plan anything official. As much as we'd love to take another Dominican Republic trip (best place ever), something was calling us to a "stay-cation" this year.

I've always thought a stay-cation would be fun, but now that actually we're making it happen, I'm officially VERY excited. There are a couple weeks over November/December that we're considering, and I'm stalking my cities event calendar like nobodies business. There's a TON that our beautiful city has to offer that we never make the time for because of our busy schedule...so I'm pumped to begin our official stay-cation checklist! If you've ever "stayed home" for vacation, I'd love some tips on how to make it even better! We want a few days in, and a few days out!

That photo up above was taken last night from my phone right before my 3rd engagement session this month. Jackie and Andrew live Downtown and they wanted an urban, city feel to their photos. The sun was bursting through the buildings as we finished, and I'm really excited about what we got!

I got home to my tasty crock pot fajitas (think I'm finally getting in a cooking groove -yay!), then Caleb and I enjoyed a night full of cleaning and editing together. Tonight we're finally off to pick out a dining room table, yippee! I'm just so thrilled we're finally getting settled and really loving the place just as much as we thought we would :)

Hope everyone has a good hump day!

  1. Crockpot meals an dining room tables---hot diggity dog! Grown-up status right thur.

Staycations are SO fun!! Especially since your city always looks so dang beautiful! Freds and I did that in Charleston. We had an ongoing list of things in the city we wanted to do or try. Whether it was a park or tour or event, etc., etc. Then we cut up paper and wrote down every single restaurant we wanted to try in the city (big or small), and pulled one out of a bag and that's how we decided anytime we wanted to go out to eat!

  2. Staycations are the best, I love em! Such a fun way to explore where you live and just do nothing if you want to as well. I suggest a fun cooking night, where you try a new to you recipe you've always wanted to try and hey if it doesn't work, PIZZA PARTY!!!

  3. We ended up doing a staycation during the summer and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be persay. If I were you, I'd make a list of things you have done, places you haven't eaten at yet and that's your target area. Don't be afraid to spend the money either because memories is what you're making! Can't wait to hear all about it!!

  6. Sounds like fun! Josh and I went out to eat on a date last night for our anniversary and it felt like a staycation, lol. The restaurant has been there for about 5 years and we'd never had the chance to try it. So nice!

  7. Enjoy every moment of your staycation! I usually feel like I need a vacation from my vacation when I get home, so being home and on an easy schedule makes it so much more special <3

  10. Heck yeah for a staycation! There are ALWAYS so many touristy things I want to do in any city, including my own. It shouldn't be hard at all to fill your time. I'd suggest the Ducks tour that goes on land and in water, but it's already done for the season. Hmm...

  11. Great shots! I think a staycation would be awesome in just about any town because there are always so many things you haven't really tried right in your back yard. Hope you guys find some awesome stuff to do even if just staying at home!
