DIY date night in 2.0

Watch out Chip and Joanna Gaines, there's a new DIY couple in town ;) I don't know what's gotten into us but all the HGTV that we've been watching has finally put some fire under our butts to make this home of ours as cute and personal as possible. We had yet another Saturday with no plans, so what did we do? Hopped in the car and headed to another local thrift shop (or three)...

We went all over town to get what we needed to complete it and finally came home to get our project started!

THIS is what we worked on all night. We picked up another $17 item (that must be our lucky #...as our DIY mirror was also that price!), some spray paint, a couple knobs, and went to town! This was how we picked her up. A little dented and dusty...

Let me be honest, we had no idea what we were doing...but we did a little bit of research and found the perfect sandpaper to sand it down with, and knew that would be the first step. This was actually fairly easy! It made the wood even and smooth!

We got the base spray painted, and decided to hand paint the details, and that included the "feet".

We also hand painted the knobs, and they were a pretty sea green. We love how it dried!

and here's the final product, before & after...

We're super excited with the end result! Obviously it was like 10PM when we finished so the lighting is all wonky... the table is a bright white, with sea foam green nobs. I love it!! We plan on using it to either house Caleb's new record player/records...or just for a few miscellaneous items in our house. I'd like it to go in our guest bedroom, but Caleb loves it in the living room by the TV for now. We'll see! ;)

Gosh, doing stuff like this together is SO much fun. It was so exciting creating something together! Have you done any projects lately?! I want to hear!!

  5. It looks great Kayla! One you have kiddos the DIYing comes to end for the most part :( One of the last things we did was revamp an old dresser. It was the one that my dad's older brother had, then he had it, and then it was passed onto my brother. We took it when my brother didn't have room for it and X needed a dresser before he arrived. It was just plain, with a little bit of varnish and the knobs were falling off. We spray painted the whole thing black to match the crib and added some fun hammered metal knobs. It came out great for being over 40 years old!

  6. This looks awesome, too! This sounds like a perfect date idea, but Wheat and I are so, so lazy on our time off! Haha...we desperately need to sand and repaint our dining room table and chairs, but haven't had the energy to do it. I keep telling myself maybe once it's warmer outside...haha!

  8. That's awesome!! I was just looking for some furniture at thrift shops and found NOTHING! I'm jealous! But my husband and I did just redo an unfinished ikea dresser over the weekend. Ok, more like he did it, but I did pick out the knobs and put them on myself ;)

  12. But seriously, you are on a roll! How cute is this?! One of my favorite pieces in our living is this weirdly shaped cabinet we got for under $10 at a Goodwill and Ricky worked his magic on it (our DIY projects are a lot more one-sided ;))
