& our first week of goals went....

EXTREMELY WELL. We didn't eat out ONCE.
I'm so excited for this new weekly goals we're doing. It's simple, all ya need is motivation, a pen, and a post-it to stick on the fridge.

Last night Caleb and I went to the gym and had an extremely hard workout. I pushed myself to run the full 30 minutes and almost died...well okay, not really...but it felt like it. After that Caleb pushed me to my limits on our back/shoulders workout. There was one point where I thought I might drop the bar, but thankfully he was there to help me. It really made me realize...if it wasn't for my husband, I wouldn't be able to push myself so hard. I'm so thankful for that!

{Insert cheesy fall picture from last year}
So, after an extremely tiring night at the gym, and cooking dinner, I started to feel really sick. Not sure what got into me, but all I wanted to do was lay on the couch. That's when Caleb reminded me that I still needed to pick our new weekly goal. So what did I decide on?
Nightly marriage devotions.

I'm excited. We already have a great marriage. Not perfect by any means...but definitely awesome. There is just something about forcing yourself to sit down with your spouse once a night, talk about things, and learning more about each other, that just makes us a happier couple. So, we started with a fun book and I'm really excited to see where this week takes us.

Happy Tuesday, friends!

PS - I'm scared! Caleb said he might make our goal for next week; "Vegetarian week" - AHH. Recipes, please!!

  1. Such a great weekly goal! Last week when you posted about these goals I actually thought about a nightly kind of devotion. I might steal this one. Love it.

  2. Ah! My husband would never ever suggest vegetarian week--I tried Meatless Mondays for the first few months of our marriage and he was not a fan. Favorite easy meatless dinner is a veggie frittata and salad :)

  3. Anything with Spaghetti squash will keep you happy for a week. SkinnyTaste has a baked spaghetti squash recipe with so much cheese its insane! Also, fried rice (we make it with cauliflower) is a great one!

  4. What a great goal! I want to do something like that with Derek, even though we aren't married yet, it couldn't hurt to start! Eeeee I wouldn't want to be vegetarian for a week!

  5. If he does do vegetarian week, you should post up what you eat because I don't think I could do that! I hope this week's goal is great :)

  10. YAY for Vegetarian week. I've got all kinds of ideas, but my favorite (that I'm making tonight) is this one because it's easy and reheats for lunch super good - plus it gives my little vegetarian self a reason to keep the George Foreman we got for our wedding. http://paninihappy.com/spinach-feta-quinoa-cakes-plus-5-quick-dinners-on-the-panini-press/

  12. What a great realization about you and Caleb and a great weekly goal sweet friend. I wish Michael and I spent more time just being together instead of just coexisting at some points. Silly work always makes that a little more difficult. sigh.

  14. Yay!!! I love this idea...I've wanted to do devotions with Sean but like any habit, starting is the hardest.

    I can so help with veg recipes!

    Honestly, I just take the foods I like and sub veggies or beans for meat! zucchini in spaghetti, black bean quesadillas, lots of hummus!
